Industrial & Traditional Banks
As we begin the new year, I wanted to share what I am seeing going on in the banking industry in Utah, Idaho, and Colorado. First off, regarding new industrial bank charter applications, PayPal has recently applied for an industrial bank charter. They join others like Nissan, GM Financial, Edward Jones, while Ford and others are trying to get approval. There seems to be some excitement about the prospect of getting these charters approved, although the process is still slow and seems to take a while. If you are interested in a possible career change into industrial banking with one of these new charters, let me know. Please be aware that the approval process takes a lot of time, and there is no guarantee of approval. However, there have been a few approved in the past few years that contrast with the prior decade, where no approvals were being issued.
Regarding more traditional banking opportunities, there are several banks looking to increase their SBA departments, either with lenders, credit underwriters, or loan closers/processors. There are some more traditional commercial lending and credit opportunities also around, and since annual bonuses are about to be paid, this is a good time to explore other opportunities if you are interested. Other areas where banks are hiring is in internal audit, both in traditional and IT audit roles.
If you are interested in exploring new opportunities this year and want to know what your options might look like, even if you are in other areas of banking not mentioned above, please contact me, and we can discuss some possibilities. All conversations we have are strictly confidential and will not get back to your employer, at least from me! Working with a recruiter who knows the banking industry is a good way to explore other opportunities without jeopardizing your role with your current bank.
