The year-in-automotive has effectively concluded with the SEMA Show last week. As we look back, here are some of Mark Osmundson’s personal observations about the state of employment in the automotive industry:

• Companies are hiring – Mark’s clients are investing in new positions, and in some cases they are investing in significant new initiatives. The buzzwords like “autonomous”, “connected”, and “mobility” are catalysts for some of this investment. The strong economy is another.
• Candidates have options – those individuals who are open to new opportunities will have more than one option. Thus, the hiring process needs to be candidate-friendly and fast.
• Product Development is a focus – with an eye toward stronger growth, companies have identified opportunities to improve their product development and product management teams and processes.
